The photographer Mark Gadsden saves child from drowning in Blackpool

What a drama packed day it proved to be today for one of our photographers Mark Gadsden from Dancesportphoto!
Mark arrived from Australia last week to take photos at the Blackpool Dance Festival as he does every year. This morning, having a bit of spare time, Mark and Sharon decided to take a walk to the Blackpool Pier. Mark was just taking some shots when Sharon noticed a little boy who had wondered off his mum and fall into the freezing water! The quick current was taking the little kid away from the ege and he was sinking quickly. Sharon yelled out to Mark and he jumped in, fully clothed, and pulled him out to safety.
Everybody was OK, little boy's mum obviously grateful and happy. Poor Mark had to walk back to the hotel barefoot. We hope he won't catch a chill as the temperature of the water feels like it is only a little above freezing and certainly not what the born and bred Australians are used to.
What a true hero!!
